California Institute of Technology (Caltech)

Based in sunny Pasadena in California, California Institute of Technology (Caltech) is the fifth best university in the world according to the QS World University Rankings® 2016-2017. It was rated the maximum 5 QS stars and is top of the class in research, innovation, facilities and specialist criteria. Caltech is particularly strong in a number of STEM subjects, including chemical engineering, the biological sciences, chemistry, earth and marine sciences, physics and astronomy, and the natural sciences, as indicated by its strong performance in the subject rankings. Caltech is a small but powerful research and teaching institution. With a 3:1 student faculty ratio, it has 300 teaching staff, 600 research scholars, and 99% of its students were in the top tenth of their high school graduating class.
